Right size? Right shape? Are you looking at your belly and wondering if your bump is normal? You have nothing to fear. The likelihood is you are perfectly formed and in good shape.
Your bump's position and shape is often the topic of hot debate among the more superstitious people you know. Some people swear if you are carrying high or wide, it's a girl. And if you are carrying low or out in front, it's a boy. Of course, there is no medical proof to back this up!
Chances are if you are tall and have good muscle tone, you will carry high and your bump might not be very noticeable. If you are small, your bump is likely to appear to be larger. Try not to worry if you think you bump’s big. A big bump does not necessarily mean that you are going give birth to a big baby!
Your bump will not only change size throughout your pregnancy, it will also change shape. If your baby is lying sideways (the transverse position) then your bump may look a little odd until he or she changes position. You will also find that your bump will become more solid and you will carry lower as your baby grows and becomes heavier.
Whatever it looks like, try to enjoy your one of a kind baby bump – it won’t be around forever!
